St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School is seeking an experienced and certified elementary teacher (K-5). The St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School located in Watertown, Mass, is a child-centered American-Armenian Institution committed to academic excellence. The school is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE). Your responsibilities include but not limited to
overseeing and implementing Reading, Language Arts, Math Science and Social Studies curriculum and instruction according to the Massachusetts Curriculum Standards.
building strong relationships with students in order to motivate them to be their best selves both academically and personally.
being open and prepared to think deeply about instructional strategies and collaborate with colleagues in order to meet the needs of every student.
developing lesson plans and instructional materials and providing individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
providing accommodations and support for students with special needs.
establishing and communicating clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units and projects. upholding a code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established school policies and develops rules of classroom behavior which are enforced in a fair and just manner. attending established traditional school sponsored activities (e.g., Open House, Christmas Concert, and Graduation Ceremony).
participating in professional development and mentorship opportunities with specialists and colleagues.
ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
establishing an effective learning environment and promoting a positive school culture.
developing strong relationships and communicates with parents with regularly (ie. weekly electronic newsletters).
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;
Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License;
Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and highly qualified.
Knowledge of Armenian is not a requirement.

SSAES School Administrative Assistant
St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School is seeking an Administrative Assistant. The position will begin effective immediately. The St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School located in Watertown, Mass, is a child-centered American-Armenian Institution committed to academic excellence. The school is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE).
Position summary
Under the direction of the Head of School, perform a variety of management duties, involving both specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures; work cooperatively with staff, students, visitors, and parents, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Hours
Full-time, 12-month position 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (40 hrs./week).
Summer flex hours will be determined on an annual basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Welcome and greet visitors and answering phone calls
Answering the doorbell
Generate and maintain various lists, schedules, and calendars.
Coordinate extracurricular programming including after school activities, lunch duty schedule, summer camp, 5th Grade Armenia Trip, Field Trips, and school picture arrangement.
Ensure the upkeep and purchasing of all supplies and materials in common faculty areas (ie. resource room and faculty/staff room).
Update and maintain student files (online and physical).
Serve as a CORI representative.
First Aid kit and supply maintenance.
Coordinating custodial care of preschool and elementary buildings as well as school events.
Knowledge of:
Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Record-keeping techniques and procedures.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Basic accounting.
Knowledge of Armenian language is preferred but not required
Experience with Constant Contact or Mailchimp, FACTS (school management platform), Google Drive and associated products, QuickBooks, Canva, Word, and Excel.
Ability to:
Compose routine correspondence independently and timely.
Work independently with minimal direction.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
Learn, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures to various constituencies.
Compile and maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion independently.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in administration or related field.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a school setting preferred.
Demonstrate ability to work fluidly with administration, faculty, and parents to build a tightly integrated and smooth running school.
