Study Hall (Grades 1-5)

At 3:00 pm the K teacher accompany the K late stay students to the Preschool and K students taking after school classes to ACEC.
The Study Hall program for Gr. 1-5 students is held Monday—Thursday until 5:30 PM, in the Elementary Building and is supervised by our elementary teachers. This is NOT a tutoring or extra help period, but rather a quiet study hall. The Study Hall begins with a snack and a short recess, then students do their homework in the supervising teacher’s classroom. Once homework is completed, students can read or engage in quiet games in the classroom. (Students should bring from home a snack as well as a book to read).
K-5 students who are not picked up at the end of an after school enrichment program will be taken to the Study Hall and will be charged the late stay fee.

Late Stay/Study Hall until 5:30 PM $30
Late Stay/Study Hall following an After-School Activity will be charged the Late Stay /Study Hall Fee.

St. Stephens Elementary School: A commitment to the whole child

In our ongoing effort to provide our students with a well-rounded educational experience, St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School offers a wide variety of after-school and enrichment programs during the school year.

Our after school programs are offered in three sessions and students will have an opportunity to register for each session. Programs are limited in size and the school’s policy is first come, first serve.

A Registration form must be completed and accompanied with the appropriate fees. Every effort will be made to reschedule any classes cancelled due to holidays or snow days. K-5 Students must receive approval from their homeroom and Armenian language teachers in order to participate in after school programs.

Registration will be held on Sept. 14-18 on a first come, first serve basis.

 

Chess Club

The chess club is offered to students in Gr. 1-5. It is open to beginners and advance chess players. Students may be grouped by grade and/or chess playing skill level.(Space will be limited to 10 students).

Drama Club


The drama club will be offered to Grades 1-5 students twice a week It will include the basics of speech, diction, improvisation, voice training, rhythm, dance and musical plays. The theatre group will help children to develop their
attention, speech, communication, memory, imagination, abstract thinking and self-expression.

Mad Science® of Greater Boston, “Crazy Chemworks!”

Join the Mad Science hands-on science fun. We’re crazy about science...and hope you are too! In this program, we’ll have a blast exploring science and how it affects the world around us. There will be exciting hands-on activities, spectacular demonstrations, inquiry - based discussions, and amazing projects to make and take home. We’ll explore the world’s most abundant animal - bugs; investigate the powerful processes that shape the Earth and form rocks, minerals and gems: try out different types of simple machines ... levers ...incline planes ... wheels ... and pulleys; and discover how hurricanes, tornadoes and thunderstorms develop and how powerful they can be! We’ll also learn first hand how advances in science and technology are behind our favorite movie special effects; explore the energy of motion and how energy can be conserved; get our left and right brains working together and discover the links between science and art; and examine and investigate what life is like under the sea.

Art/Creative Arts

The creative arts program, designed by our art teachers, offers students an opportunity to further their art interest and skills. All supplies are included in the cost.

Basketball Club


The school’s basketball club is open to students in grades 3-5 and is offered in the fall and winter only. Students learn basketball skills and engage in intramural games.

Lunchables Book Club


Lunchables, the school’s book club is offered in both English and Armenian to students in grades 2-5. The book club is conducted during the school day at lunch time.
Students read and discuss books with their peers and instructor. Lunchables is offered twice a year and runs longer than ten weeks each session. There is no cost.

Cancellations/Withdrawals

  • Full payment is required to complete your child’s registration with the form
  • Registration after May 1st will result in an extra $25 fee for each week of delay
  • In the event a family must withdraw their child(ren) from the SSAES Summer Program after completing the registration process and prior to June 24th, the school will offer a 90% credit to their FACTS account based on the weeks they were enrolled.
  • There will be no refunds after June 24th.
